  2. Private engagement rate—includes all the abovementioned reactions, comments, and shares, as well as other engagement metrics that are only visible to the advertiser, like saves, clicks, and views divided by the total reach. For Pages

This is the average engagement rate of your posts over a specific time frame, such as the last 30 days.

Use this calculation to calculate, benchmark, and measure your own performance over time. This method is considered the true calculation as we include engagements that are only visible to Page admins and divide them by reach, which is also private.

Private Engagements = Reactions + Comments + Shares + 3-sec Video Views + Clicks to Play + Photo Views + Link Clicks + Other Clicks

Total Reach = Number of people who saw your post

For posts

Private Engagement Rate = (Total Private Engagements / Total Reach) x 100

For Pages

This is the average engagement rate of your posts over a specific time frame, such as the last 30 days.

For example, if a post received 500 total engagements and reached 10,000 people:
Engagement Rate = (500 / 10,000) x 100 = 5%
